Another late start this morning. Oh dear, I do hate getting up late and although it's happened twice in the last month it's actually very rare for me to oversleep. Anyway, 7 a.m. - a whole hour later than usual. I got my breakfast and lunch packed and ready to bring to work and ate a few walnuts to keep me going for the first hour. Also put filter coffee into my Starbucks thermos cup - great invention, those - and I'm sipping at it now.

Yesterday's lethargy was more than just alcohol reaction - I have a heavy cold to start the new year, which is probably why I overslept this morning.

My plan was to go to the gym this evening and I'm ready for that but I'm not sure how sensible it is to exercise when you're feeling really under the weather. Physically I feel I could probably do it but it'll make me feel tired rather than energised. I think I'll see how I feel after a day at work.

Spent a good amount of time yesterday assessing the year past and contemplating the year ahead. The biggest thing I have to fit into my routine is some serious study time. It was a big achievement for me getting accepted onto the MSc course and now I have to put in some graft - it's been a dream of mine for so long that now I'm finding it hard to pull the dream into reality mode! Reality means an average of two hours study per day - waking up at 4.30 like Kingkeld might be an option to get into. I'm definitely a morning person and when it comes to studying in the evenings I find I'm too tired to concentrate. I really have to make a concrete change to my routine THIS WEEK and not let anther week go by with nothing achieved on the study front.

We also need to book airline tickets for our term break this week. There are only two school terms in Turkey - Sept to Jan and Feb to June, 18 weeks each. We have a two-week break at the end of this month and that's when we usually go to England to visit family. We are all really in need of a break and it will be lovely to see my mum and all my siblings, nieces and nephews.



Later... 7pm and the gym question answered itsself - I was shivering by the time I got home from school and have a slight temperature. Straight into PJs and have just made a drink with linden leaves, fresh ginger, lemon and honey. I'll probably be in bed by 9!
