What am I thinking? I'm thinking,I do want to lose weight quickly. The onset of my obesity happened within 3 months of returning from the Navy in 2007. I gained 10 lbs a month for six months. So, I gained at a rate of about 2.3 lbs a week.

I'm a crazy chick, because I like to see more loss. Yup, even with all this water, I realize that my initial shedding was probably water weight; however, wow. I lost 10 lbs my first week. If I could do that regularly...

So I'm exercising a lot and eating a lot fewer calories. That's supposedly unhealthy, but the thing I don't get about it is this: why? I mean, I'm probably getting more nutrition this way than I was before. How am I hurting myself any worse than I was before?

So, I think I could lose about 3 lbs a week.

Three pounds a week might be doable. You look like you are doing fine with your caloric intake. It's people who eat way less than that where problems can arise in their health. Not getting enough calories can lead to muscle loss in many people (the same with when you lose too fast). Muscle loss is bad. Muscle helps you burn calories (why men lose faster than women). When you lose a pound. It's typically part fat, water and muscle. You want to minimize muscle loss as much as possible. You do that by getting enough lean protein in your diet and enough calories to maintain your health but helps you lose. So just keep going what your doing, and adjust as you go.

I agree, Suzi. I also realize that it really shouldn't matter if I lose that much or not. I just would like to. I think it's better to focus on how well we've maintained the new change then on how much we've lost, but it's okay to want to lose more!
