Looking at my macros yesterday, my protein was too high. I want to keep it just under 50 Gm, with 60 being the top limit. It seems the most painless way to do it is to skip the cheese. I could back off on the sausage portions a bit as well.

Yes, I might do the same. I seem to pick at bits of cheese and I agree about the sausages. All the best

Are you LCHF - I think yes. Protein moderate is good. I go by percentages if that helps. Like 65%-70% fat, 20-25% protein and under 10% carbs on most days thoughtful currently I am playing around with that one...not successfully though

OK so I know this advice comes from a non-LCHF person, but wouldn't it be better to keep the cheese and cut back on the sausage? The cheese has calcium that you need.

Oh dear. I can't measure my food like this. I'm a wimp. I can only eat what I fancy each day. I admit to 50 % carbs. Cheers

Dairy seems to do in a lot of LCHFers. Doesn't seem to affect me, thankfully. Try dropping the cheese for a week and see what happens?

Keto restricts dairy... that's why I do LCHF and dabble in keto. I know 'they' say you don't have to count calories on LC, but I try to keep mine between 1200 and 1600. I don't do it most days, but I do try..

You can do this. I'm challenging you to move today! I just took a craxy bike ride. Do ten to twenty minutes of something. Air jump rope, jog in place, jumping jacks.....and go!

Since I'm not growing, breastfeeding, pregnant, or weight training, I don't need more than 60 Gm protein a day. I want to restrict it for health reasons. Exercise, schmexercise! OK, I'll do SOMETHING that resembles exercise today 😬

I think I know what you're going through. I've been struggling with the protein number for a while now. Especially since I went vegetarian last year. Everybody keeps telling me I need more of it, and it DOES give me more energy but it also comes at a price in calories fats and sodium. After researching it I started targeting 45-60 myself. We can't both be wrong :-)

Eat fish. Low calorie, high protein. If you can tolerate it.

I had half a cup of canned salmon today, and it blew half my protein budget! VeggieMama, I need to get more vegetables on my plate. It's that simple. I have been relying on animal proteins for the past 5 months, and I need to scale back a bit.

I have to admit that I (despite being a vegetarian) often struggle to get enough veggies in my diet! It's sad but true. I do think there is one indisputable super food that has always helped me out in long run to maintain a good calorie/carb//protein balance..... Beans! Even canned beans, refried etc. Legumes are filling and offer protein but not in the abundance of meat. I was blown away at how much vegetables you can pile on a plate and barely hit 100 calories. The lower calorie variants don't have much going for them in protein but they a great way to pad a meal and feel full on a even a VERY restricted calorie diet. Sometimes I have days when my protein goes over 80+ (but mostly It's a struggle to get enough protein for me). I have a feeling it's not going to hurt to be over my goal in the long run as long as I'm mostly consistent. Just like those days when you don't drink enough water :-)

I just looked up mushrooms. One cup is 2 Gm carbs and 2 Gm protein. I will eat them at dinner tonight sauted in butter. Yum. I managed to "be good" so far today and will walk the dogs with hubby soon to get my exercise in.

Some days it all sounds like a science project. I know I have to watch the macros but the math can make my head spin.
