My life, house, diet, and family are messy, but I am going to keep rolling with it. When I resumed FS back in May, there was a core group of people having great success with LCHF. With the addition of IF, these people achieved their goals and have, for the most part, moved on.

There has been negative backlash here against LCHF that has created a toxic environment on the boards. There is a general air of people feeling defensive when it comes to their WOE. Well, food is very personal, so this is to be expected.

Yet, if we all set our journals to private, there is little opportunity to give and receive support and to share our journeys.

Anyway, I am changing my diet to LCHF/IF because it most accurately expresses what I am trying to do, and when people read my profile, they can see for themselves what my goals are. I will include helpful links in my bio. I will continue to document my journey in words and pictures.

I will also continue to weigh daily. This is a sticky point, because some people think of daily posted weights as spam. Well, I disagree!

Life is messy.

Love you guys! Having an open mind to a diversity of thought is so important, and who's to tell anyone else what works for them. We can help each other out, with suggestions and tips, if they are offered in a spirit of camaraderie. But I don't think anyone comes here to 'be taught' in a paternalistic, condescending way. Shared struggle and encouragement that's real, that's what I find so wonderful here.

Well! Here's an interesting article penned by Dr. Jason Fung that very well may have already been posted somewhere on this illustrious site as in pertains to counting calories. Calories are, in fact, a man-made construct. Insulin, on the other hand, is not.- https://intensivedietarymanagement.com/calorie-counting/ "There are other ways, of course to measure different foods. You could simply weigh them. So 1/2 a pound of sugar is the same as 1/2 a pound of lettuce. This is simply a different currency. You could make the same First Law of Thermodynamics argument for weight as for calories. If you eat 1/2 pound of food, whether sugar or lettuce, you must gain 1/2 pound of weight. After all, how can your body gain more weight? Does weight come from thin air? How can it gain less weight? The weight of food simply disappears? Thermodynamics is a law, not a general suggestion. In both cases (weight and calories), the confusion arises from misunderstandings about thermodynamics and body fat."

It's always been your choice at least as an adult in most cases. Only you can make changes to get you where you want to be. I do miss those in the past that had great success, reached their goals, loved their avocados, grew fabulous roses and is raising a lovely daughter named Lilly. I wish him all the best as I do all of us still writing and fighting weight loss goals. All of us can and will reach our goals. For some, like me, it will take longer but we will get there. I love reading everyone's input....maybe one thing, what one person writes will help me to push forward, but again it's my choice as it was to become a member of this site. Thanks for reading and have a good evening.

1point, I read that article today. It linked to more resources I want to check out later. Draglist, when you change diets, the weight history graph stays the same. The starting weight changes on the profile page and the the tabular graph is reset.

Lady, you are doing great and you remind me so much of myself. Searching for and identifying the poisons (people and food) in your life and finding ways to avoid them. Experimenting with your own body to determine what works best for you. Reading other's post, chasing links till you find that Ahh-ha! Lightbulb moment when you finally fit another piece in the puzzle. You are in a good place for making positive changes in your life. I applaud you and admire all of your efforts!

I tried so hard to stick to the Keto diet but found it quite hard whilst still cooking for my family (and drinking alcohol). I want to try it again. My little boy starts school next week so I might find it easier to stick to. It makes so much sense. Cancer fighting, Diabetes, Depression, Alzheimer's, Parkinsons, epilepsy,Autism, migranes the list goes on. Just wish I had the willpower to stick to it :(

What is WOE please?

Way Of Eating ☺ I honestly didn't want to eat a keto diet and didn't want to count grams of anything. I just shifted this way after logging all my food and seeing the app count them for me, watching my weight go up and down based on what I consumed the prior day. Dr. Sarah Hallberg, Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Terry Wahls, Dr. Jason Fung are lighting the way. I found Doctors Fung and Hallberg through FS member posts.

WTG. The best WOE is what works for you. I am on LCHF also and find that when I weigh everyday I just do better - incentive to log my foods - now do it ahead and then at end of day make any changes that happened.

After all these years of working with negative individuals, it still amazes me how just one in a group can try to change the tenor from positive, uplifting and encouraging to fearful and uncertain through bullying, proselytizing and threatening. Strong groups are not necessarily composed entirely of strong individuals, but together the members can turn the mood back to a puposefully positive one. It was that very positive thread I was reading through yesterday, Denim Goddess, and thinking "Wow! Awesome supportivefolks on here. They get that journal posting can very much be about the strength of group process." It is far worse to live with an unhealthy mind than with an unhealthy body. In that regard Ignorant Ollie is more to be pitied than scorned. Unfortunately, however the effect of trolls like IO makes folks uncomfortable with journal sharing lest the become subject to one of his rants. Is there no way a moderator can bar this jerkoff from the site?

Ollie is banned every week, and comes back in time for the weekend, when FS admins are taking time off. I delete his comments now without reading them. He comes back with multiple usernames, and I delete content from them as well. He's not hard to spot. Slimmy10, I'm sorry he got to you. I am going to delete your rebuttals, but thank you for taking up the sword while I was in the kitchen!

I see, he's a trouble maker. I will not give him the pleasure of biting.

A strong group is one that bands together, the individuals don't necessarily have to be strong. I think everyone here has great points-this thread was awesome to go back and read just now-we are a great group, supportive of each other.

Birthday girl's gluten free friend tipped me off to a brand of wheat free bread I will look into. There is also a recipe out there using almond flour, psyllium husk powder, and boiling water that looks promising. Because sometimes a person wants TOAST 😑
