So I was wondering what y'all thought about HCB diet drops/pills. I tried that diet in high school with my friend and her mom and while I started losing a lot of weight right away I ended up having an allergic reaction within a few days with terribly itchy hives all over my face etc. Needless to say, it didn't work for me and I quit, but has anyone else had better experiences?

To me, whatever you do to lose the weight, you need to keep doing for the rest of your life in order to keep it off (except with more food). So I know I couldn't take pills and eat so little on and off. I was also reading articles about the Biggest Loser and how they studied contestants for 6 years afterward. Many gained the weight back because their bodies were not burning calories like they did before they cut back the calories so much. So I am focusing on eating a healthy diet, with enough calories to keep my metabolism up but not too many so I can't lose weight. I try to workout 4 or 5 times a week. I'm sure there are many people who have had good results from it. It does go back to whatever works and motivates us.

Yeah, I'd only tried it because they'd got a deal for a free bottle but it sucked. I doubt I would have stuck with it even if I wasn't allergic. There was no possible way I could eat like that all the time

Disclaimer: I was a contractor (ie, I wasn't working for either "side"; I acted as liaison between the cardiologists, the FDA & the drug company) during the Phen-Fen debacle. I saw the worst of the worst - the PPH cases, the severe valve damage ... the worst. Yes, diet pills can bump up your weight loss and that might help you stay motivated but they're not actually fixing anything - they cannot and do not change your eating and exercise habits and those are the things which must be changed permanently if you're going to lose weight healthily and keep the weight off. The psychological boost cannot be denied but of course with that comes the inevitable crash when the patient either stops taking the pills or becomes sick from the pills themselves. I'm not affiliated with, or even loosely connected to, the author but it's a good read if you can find it. "Dispensing with the truth", by Alicia Mundy. Putting a band aid on a bleeding aorta might help for about three seconds but it won't fix things. (You guys know I'm not here trying to offend anyone - but yes, I get a wee bit passionate about diet pills)

Yeah, I knew a few people who it worked great for (until they went back to their normal habits, as you said) and some people who ended up hospitalized from it, which is why I was curious what anyone else thought of it. Besides, it's too much money to pay for me, considering how fast the weight is coming off now that I've seriously reduced my sugar intake

Thanks SteelerMummeh, thanks for sharing. I know of a woman who died from Phen-Fen and another person who had valve damage. She ended up with a Gastric Bypass a few yrs later. I also read about what you are mentioning
