I am also starting to appreciate food cravings...... and 'falling off the wagon' in a food fest binge.

I did try.
I tried, I tried so hard.
The only vegetable matter I had for my breakfast was an avocado.
By lunchtime I had the cravings.

GIMME VEG!

I held reasonably firm. I had all the usual LCHF standby food. Protein. Fat.

I caved and had some coconut chips, they can't be too bad, surely? Not too bad???

By supper time I missed my veg so bad I broke down and gorged myself. Bliss. Heaven. Ah...... veg. Saviour of my soul.

I have never had a food craving before, what an epiphany!

Thankfully my cravings aren't sugar and dense carbs. For those on that trip, I feel for you, I really do. That must be so tough.

I think, if you crave vegetables in that way, maybe LCHF isn't for you? Vegetables are good for you, so go ahead and eat them. You don't need to do LCHF to lose weight.

What % carbs are you trying to achieve? My new target is 40%.

Heidi - of course - though nobody needs to forego vegetables on LCHF either!! LCHF the way I do it suits me perfectly. I eat LOADS of good food and a lot of veg. The days I go up on net carbs are when I have more fruit. The other day I had four pieces of fruit and still my net carbs were under 60g. even with a normal level of fruit I rarely go over 50g net carbs - still a low carb diet, just not an extreme one. Personally I don't understand the (to me) extreme way of LCHF where there is no real veg. eaten. I don't have to understand it as I don't eat that way :) Interesting numbers though. I have been lax on the spreadsheet - a lot else going on - so I crunched the numbers longhand. Makes fascinating (to me) reading, and reminds me to complete the spreadsheet! My average net carbs for the last 34 days (Feb and March) are 35.28g. That's low carb. JockoT - In terms of calorific values - it averages 10% of my daily intake for kcals (the FS pie shows total carbs and I eat a lot of fibre so it skews the figures). Again, 10% is, I think, reasonable in the LCHF approach. It suits me very well. I know it wouldn't suit me to give up my veg and fruit. It's a question of eating the right fruit and veg. too. I believe citrus is good fruit for me, especially as I eat so much greenery - it helps absorb the iron (I believe) among other things. Besides which it tastes great and I like it. I don't want to eat what I don't enjoy and not enjoy what I do eat. It does push the net carbs up, the benefits are worth it to me.
