My page isn't letting me reply to messages I have received so I'll post a reply here for anyone who may be interested in how I've lost weight.

Hiya,

Thanks for your support.

I typically do very little exercise and spend most of the day in front of my computer. All of my weight loss has been due to a strict Ketogenic diet.
I never eat more than 20 grams of carbohydrate in a day and I use the 'cronometer.com' website to keep track of my macro/micro nutrients. The website is free to use and is a blessing for me as I would otherwise lose track of what I've eaten.

I aim to have 75% fat, no more than 20% protein, and less than 5% carbohydrate. I find that dividing my food in half and eating 6 meals over a 12 hour time period is the best way for me to lose weight. The daily total of macronutrients stays the same, but by avoiding having to process too many nutrients at once seems to really help me to lose weight more rapidly. I also use a blood glucose meter to monitor my reaction to different foods. I check my levels when I wake up, and then 2 hours after each meal. This gives an accurate assessment of how that particular meal affected me. Higher blood glucose means higher insulin levels, and insulin is the fat storage hormone. A large spike in my blood glucose level, measured 2 hours after the meal, is a sure sign that the meal was too rich in carbohydrate for me.
Having regular smaller meals that have little or no carbohydrate in them is the most efficient method that I've found for keeping those levels down.

I made sure to eat plenty of natural fat (more than 75%) in the first 2 months of the diet, the extra fat was mainly in the form of heavy or double cream, I did this until I was certain that my body was 'fat adapted'. After 2 months I removed cream from my diet.

I've been following a Ketogenic diet for 7 months now (111 lbs weight loss) and I can honestly say that I haven't felt hungry once.

I hope that this is useful for you.

5% of your body weight or of your daily intake for carbs ? and is that total carbs ?

Hiya, The 5% refers to the percentage of my diet that is carbohydrate. I live in the European Union so carbohydrate totals are always net carbs. Our food labeling laws require that the manufacturers allow for the fiber totals to make it easier for us :) Good luck with your diet. G.

That's a fantastic result! I was wondering whether so much fat consumed would affect people with fatty liver. Would you know anything about it? Have you by any chance had any blood tests done to show the effect of high fat intake on your body?
