Yikes on being Fred. So uncute in my opinion. A lot of men do this. They feel they have to give every other male some weird nickname. It seems like an attempt to make someone "lesser than". It starts early in life and by high school almost all of my male friends and, I had a lot of them, had goofy nicknames. Like Possum, Squirrel, Alkie, Dinger, etc. Actual names. Totally stupid. It's a shame that when you boss asks "Fred" if you are ready to go you can't say, "Sure, Boss Hog!"  

🤣😂 That response made me laugh, Morticia. I really wish I could say that. It’s also ironic you say that about some men. My dad is one of them.🙄 When my sister and I were growing up, he called us nicknames that were actual boy names. It’s like he wished he had boys and not girls. We were Harvey and Harry. Yet, to this day, I don’t know who was who. Maybe that’s why the Fred thing bothers me so much.  

Plus, my maternal grandfather, my uncle and my one cousin’s names are Fred.

lol, OTB. Neicy, I always figure if they’re giving me a nickname, they like me. That said, if I don’t like it, I tell them to figure something else out. 

I say "ready, Freddy" all the time. 😝 It's never been a nickname for anyone- though I have doled out my share for people. lol

it's like when people say "living the dream" at my old warehouse job, then mutually complain how unsatisfied they are.. and then do it again the next day!!! I literally started telling people, "if you are that unhappy, find employment that makes you happy" if it starts up again next school year, remind her what your name is! "I don't know who Fred it's but name name is...." those repeatedly said phrases are exhausting to hear 🙉 and can damper your mood and motivation!

DP, yea, I’m ok with ready Freddy. It’s ’hey Fred, can you….? ‘Good morning Fred’ that kinda stuff. Literally, it’s my name to her.

If you don’t like it, speak up. If she’s doing it as to harass, that’s hostile workplace. Your do have to speak up though, preferably in front of a witness. 

Oddly enough, my dad had a nickname for me too. It was "Butch". LOL. My first boyfriend in 6th grade had the same nickname. Hubby and his brother's nicknames were Tear, Rend, and Destroy. They didn't know who was what either.  

If you go to lunch together it's a nickname that she thinks is special to your relationship so if it bothers you please tell her so she stops annoying you with it! 

I would correct your manager. 

I would start calling her barney  

or Mr slate would be even better
