Almost-fasting BS today was 111. I had taken three swig...sips of protein coffee drink before I remembered to do the FBS. Reminder to take my brain-assisting supplement ;-). Sourdough mini-muffin coming up. Can't face eggs yet today. Might make Mexican Eggd for lunch or dinner just to get the clean protein in. Could substitute some of my home canned sweet chili sauce (with a good dash of L'sana hot sauce for the topping. Don't like extremely hot spice but enjoy a warm one flavor.Maybe some of my olde French ancestry is coming in sorta-Cajun? My British Isles ancestors were all other European ethnicities before migrating to Scotland, Ireland, England, and Wales from Scandanavian countries and as far East as the edge of Mongolia...documented back to the 5th Century, 460-something. No wonder my interests and food choices are so weird.

My ancestry is the same, Scots-Irish and a lil French. I was born here in the US but my ancestors came down from Scandinavia to Scotland and Ireland as well. Been doing Ancestry and Family Search, it is fascinating!

Ha-Ha, Windy! Maybe that explains a lot about our likes and dislikes. My mother had never tasted or heard of Danish pastry until the 50s and was immediately hooked. She exclaimed with a grin, "I'm Danish, no wonder I like these things so much; they're in my blood." Her mother was born in Denmark...

Isn't that something? I really believe heritage plays a greater role in our makeup than we realize. I know my personality certainly reflects mine! 😆🤗🥰 But I also love Danish pastry ... And Italian pastry... And yeah, pastry! 🤗

Timbales, cannoli, and pizelle: Slide down the gullet so well. Scones, Madelines, and stromboli: All mess with good intentions wholly.

Maybe my food choices are a little weird because of my ancestry scattered in so many different countries in Europe, too. 😂I am Jewish, and the Ashkenazic Jewish people lived in many different countries in Europe after they left Israel. A lot of them lived in climates that were so cold that they had to preserve food during the time of year when nothing grows—maybe that’s why I love pickles so much 😂I also love food that has nothing to do with my own ancestry or culture—history of traveling from the musical, instrument-loving, band-oriented side of my family doing concerts all over the world?

Laine, discovering other cultures and their food, way of finding a workable means of life...there is so much good to being open-eyed and -minded. No, I would not share in everything done in every culture necessarily but I am a firm believer in people being of free will, personal accountability, and deserving assigned human dignity.

PS, Laine--I forgot to say that waaay back in my ancestors is Ashkenazic Jewish DNA. I can't remember if it's on maternal or paternal side though. Must go look it up--tomorrow. Too tired, got to sleep!
