I just love 🥘 food. But how can I love it and not let it take over me? This has been my issue.
All I want to do is eat tasty food and enjoy!! This weight loss thing is just a drag at times but this is one of the highest weights I have been and I am not comfy with it.
Then there is cardio—who likes that? I enjoy weight lifting but even that gets boring.
I’m trying to come up with some strategies but things only work sometimes—-this is just a lot sometimes.

Living a healthy lifestyle is a major change for most of us. It would have been easier if I had made positive changes over the years a little at a time instead of being slapped in the face with all of it.

Yes exactly ! A little at a time instead of like “Oh shit” it’s out of control!! I need to fix it now is harder. I’m starting to learn to love myself more and make being healthy part of it. Yes there is a salsa 💃 dance place near me which looks fun cardio!

Walking is good cardio and more interesting is a walking trail with pretty scenery rather than a boring treadmill. And maybe at some point, hiking?

Weigh and measure portions before sitting down at the table. That will regulate consumption as long as you do it sincerely; A trick I learned a long time ago at WW. Also something I find to be difficult because of my arthritis... We've gotta keep moving to burn excess calories.

You sound like me! I have had fun making it a challenge to make delicious meals healthier. Sounds like you’ve been cooking a lot. I’ve figured out how to switch ingredients and come up with something close that’s just as delicious. Over time you like the healthier things more, which helps. Working out always sucks for me but I follow a trainer on YouTube with new workouts almost everyday. That really helps. Love the dancing idea. I started jiu jitsu and judo to stay active. Long term goals! You’ve got this!

I agree w JamesOHarris…get a food scale. You can still eat the foods you like, but weigh it out. There’s on-line deficit calculators, go in a slight (not drastic) calorie deficit. Lifting weights may be boring but it’s the best at building muscle, in my opinion. Gaining muscle helps burn off fat. But, not if you aren’t in a calorie deficit.

Lifting is easier when you don't do the same thing every time. Have like 8 different routines with variety and spread them out over a couple weeks so it's not monotonous. Also, if you dread "leg day" (substitute your last favorite workout), don't do a "leg day" - instead, do a little bit of leg work throughout the rest of the days. This offers more stimulation and less chance of skipping an entire workout.

And I'm with everyone else: eat the things you love, but develop a healthy, disciplined relationship with them. Instead of saying "no" to something, say "yes, but in moderation". This meal won't be your last (hopefully), so the craving will just need to wait until tomorrow if it didn't fully satisfy you tonight. It gets easier with practice 😊

I'm in the same space. Right now I am thinking of making a list of food I love. Not just chocolate but also things like cucumber. All of it. Like a mary kondo diet - does this 'spark joy.' :D I need to be on keto but I can't get over the hump and if i have to eat one more olive I think I'll lose my mind. What foods spark joy... hmm.

Lol Bubbles. It sounds like keto may not be a match for you. If you enjoy it, great. But you can achieve the same results by choosing a plan that fits your taste better and is easier to follow. Lol I see where you're going with the "sparking joy" but saying goodbye to an old figurine your grandma left you is more "final" than a slice of cheesecake that will repeatedly show up to tempt you each time you go out to a restaurant. Dieting sucks, yes, but it doesn't need to be a constant struggle. If you can establish portion control or something similar which doesn't have any "forbidden fruit", you'll be much happier and less envious watching others eat XYZ while drooling on the phone screen, lustfully lol.

I don’t know if you’ve tried this but maybe you would find exercise a lot more fun and you’d be more likely to do it if you found an activity you really enjoy. For a while I was super into cycling. Then I spent four years training jiu jitsu all the time. Both great workouts, but I did it just because it was so much fun, the health benefits were just a bonus.

And of course balance your food with some FUN exercising, now that its christmas idk maybe ice skating!! dance, hiking, video workouts, there are even games to work out in the store! I have been exercising every single day since October 2019. The way I managed to keep it up is to keep my exercise session short with cardio every single day and strength exercise on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.. make sure your sessions are no more than 45 minutes.. eventually, it became habit - also I do it VERY early in the morning to get it over with (LOL) because initially I didn’t love it but now I love it and I wake up for it. During the cardio I close my eyes and I pray and I thank God that I’m still here on this side of the grass. If this is your thing that may work for you as well… it wasn’t my thing at first, but became my thing.. I hope this helps, and I hope you can develop good exercise habits as well.. Regarding the loving of food as we all do, all I can say is, don’t deprive yourself just take small portions… Good luck! Reuben 240lbs.———->165lbs…. :0)

Many of us here are not gym people but prefer to get our activity in outside when the weather allows. Hike, swim walk. If you can make your cardio a fun thing like hiking with friends it makes all the difference in the world.

I forgot to tell you leg weights walk around with them on all day it helps strengthen legs and reshapes them too. Sweeping floors and vacuuming is exercise too. I go shopping with leg weights on too. Just find what works for you you got this.
