Happy with my food choices yesterday. Breaking fast resulted in only 0.6 lb rebound. Am definitely seeing wheat as an obstacle to weight loss. I have 134 lb of fat to lose and opting against the hamburger and bratwurst buns is an easy adjustment. So grateful for the invention of cottage cheese. What a great way to bump up the protein without cooking anything.

Hi LadyD, Once i discovered gluten sensitivity/addiction, and gave it up, everything got better and easier. I just don't eat grains, which saves a world of empty calories and the bad fats they come with. Better mood too! I make rollups with romaine lettuce or nori wraps. Check out the protein gains possible with Greek Yogurt (compare brands, they vary a lot). Team Protein!

I'm not ready to give up grains. I will eat them in smaller quantities and less frequently, but there is a day when I will belly up to the table in a chinese restaurant and eat chicken chow mein with a scoop of white rice and a handful of crunchy chow mein noodles. Not any day soon. That is a gain of 5-6 lb overnight! I decided to lose body fat, and need to get most of my carbs from veg while I work on this.

I totally agree about wheat, buns, and cottage cheese.

Lady, You might be right about the bread. The bread I do eat in the morning is Dave's 21 grain..I think it's pretty good because of the fiber. I also think giving up the bun is smart and not too hard. We buy Strauss grass fed burgers at the big box store...the problem with those are that each one is near 400 calories without anything else...so I will ditch the bun 🙂

I love cottage cheese! Plain, in salads, and I even make “ice cream” w it!

@Storm, I forgot how much I love a simple salad with iceberg lettuce, cottage cheese, and canned fruit. That fruit is probably off the table, but I do occasionally eat a cup of ice cream. The canned fruit in salad would be better than that, I think 🤔
