Hi All!!
I'd like to take this opportunity to start a discussion for many of us. I am almost 100% sure of this. . .
For those with more experience in this, I'd like to know how does one learn about macros and what your food is made up of??
I find my issue isn't meeting my caloric needs anymore. However, I can never get my macros correct.

I know that this topic comes with much study and knowledge of foods.... But quite frankly, I don't have the time for that.

Any tips or hacks regarding knowing your macros better?
How do you measure, and monitor your macros?

There are so many different rules depending on what kind of diet you’re following. It was a two week struggle figuring mine out, reading and calculating and double checking across different calculators and then fact checking again with grams and percentage. Can you say mission. General % rule I found is around 40carbs 30fat 30protein.

You can Google how many grams of each you should be consuming. I.E minimum of 0.8g for every kg. Research how many fat and carbs you should be consuming for age and health goals, and enter these grams into FS goal calculator. It calculates how many calories you will consume based on grams and show you the percentage as well. If not happy with the percentages the gram entries have calculated, switch to % and fact check with how many grams it’s giving you then. I am also still learning about macros. Some days are good and others bad. What I have found that helps, is that I preload my food for the day before. I load the next days breakfast, snack and lunch and then see where things are. I only make it once it's loaded and I've checked it. I also do this during the day. If I grab a snack or something quick to snack on, I first load it on the app to see calories, sugar, fat, carbs etc before I decide if I can eat it.

Judic Ck thank you, that does sound helpful. I tend to only load my foods once I've made them, and then realize my macros are incorrect foe the day. But I will definitely start doing this. I suppose I'm not so good at meal planning!

Hi. So two years back I lost 18kg in 4 months using macros and exercise. This is how they work. Step 1: Go online an take a body type test. This will help you determine your body type and the results will guide you on what percentage your carbs, fats and proteins should be. Step 2: Decide what your carbs of choice will be week in, week out. (Veggie carbs are best) Then choice what your fats will be. (Olive oil, avocado oil and nuts, etch) And lastly, choose your proteins and decide how you’re going to chop and change them. Step 3: If your macros are 40 protein - 30 fats and 30 carbs If for example, your caloric needs are 1700 then you do the following calculations 40 divided by 100, times 1700 = 680calories, divide this into 3 meals. Then insert the food type in this app and it will tell you how much to have to get the calories needed.
