Such a cutie pie  

yikes that's nuts and it Deffintily doesnt look like a black rat snake like someone posted earlier.  

All I see is Rattlesnake Pie 🙃😋 

He's a rat snake they are a good snake they eat small rodents and insects though they like eggs also keep my chickens locked at night we also have loads of lizards in Alabama

New porch ornament! 

we have tons of rat snakes here also a few years back we had lots of rattlesnakes and copperheads and copperhead are vicious they will chase you 

We have rattles also but there head's are so different sometimes see them on trails sunning  

I once had a rat snake in my bathroom. I discovered him just as I was about to step into the shower. So then the dilemma was whether to run screaming out of the bathroom stark naked in front of my children or to stop long enough to don a robe. I opted for the robe (didn't want to traumatize my sons for life), ran out yelling, "snake, snake." Everyone rushed into the bathroom, my husband caught it with some tongs, the children grabbed their snake book and we all went outside. We identified it as a rat snake, released it out in a field and never saw it again. The experience was a little unsettling, though I was fairly used to snakes, as my children caught them all the time. 

Shirfleur that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. God Bless you for staying calm and putting on your robe. I would have run out naked!! 

Birds built a nest above our porch light, raised one family, came back to raise another. Birdies ready to leave the nest soon. A snake used a hanging basket nearby as a base to get to the babies. Hubby knocked the snake down with mop handle. Only one of the three babies survived. Rat snakes may be good snakes, but I don't like them eating our baby birds. I wondered how the snake got into the hanging basket -- this picture shows how!

Now that your uninvited house guest is gone, I would stick a stuffed-animal hawk up there. Scarecrow for snakes. 

I live in Alabama on a Homestead we get all kinds of critters you just get used to them 

I would never hurt a living creature I'll have good purposes 

We watched a Black Snake (Rat snake) climb up along the door trim, travel along just under the gutter & work it's way to the birdhouse hanging in a corner outside the kitchen window. It took some time....Hubby kept pausing the TV show we were watching to go watch the snake. It poked it's head inside the birdhouse. Thankfully the baby birds had left the nest the day before! We've come up on them in various places...the shelves on the deck of our Garden Shed, the corner of the deck, over the door from the garage out to the deck, crawling up the front tire of our car in the garage, the gardens...Once determined it's one of the good guys, we leave them alone. We did encourage the one that ended up crawling into the car engine to take a hike 😳 We do have Copperheads as well, so if I'm surprised by one it gives me a fright.
