We both had our meat and potatoes. It doesn't sound very healthy, but after eating pretty well all day ( malt o meal for breakfast and smoothie with doritoes for lunch) I made sheppards pie for supper. I had made a super tender roast with veg in crock pot on sunday. So I shredd the meat 1st, then separate out the potatoes and pour all carrrots, celery and onions in over the meat. Then I mash the potatoes alone (moist enough, no need to add anything) and cover the whole thing with them. I baked it for 45 min or so. Everyone likes it and it was good to have a hearty supper. 😜

Oooo sounds yummy. Why not healthy? if you mean the potatoes, they are chock full of nutrition. Sure they have some insulin spike and due to that are avoided on any glycemic geared plans but they are good for most. My dinner last night homemade veggie bean/tofu burger, baked pumpkin, and 2 small baked white potatoes with a bit f butter. Yummy, filling, my calories for the day less than 1400..

I like when we write about our healthy meals. After all, we need to eat. It certainly helps to fall in love again with good quality home cooked meals. Processed foods are the main problem for all of us. And sugar. Without those two we can all live fabulously.

I am with Wholefoodnut & Kim, Kristin. These days, I try not to worry too much about my food unless it is sugary. As long as you don't go crazy with it, a meat and potatoes meal now and again is fine.

I go for nutrient dense and non processed. lots of veggies. Steer clear of the junk food and processed stuff loaded with chemicals, preservatives, sugars, and sodiums.

Sounds like I definitely need to read that "Stuff' book! I actually have a collection of old wine bottles that 'might be something, someday,' and I live in a very small apartment! Good job staying away from sugar!

Extra stuff seems to be a way of life. Back to basics, keep it simple, it can apply to so much more than food. Wholefoodnut, you are so right. Home cooking using basic un-processed ingredients helps make food that is fulfilling and can be made without sugar, excess salt and bad fats. I have gone on diets in the past using packaged food, and even slim fast shakes. It's too hard because it's not really satisfying. This is working out for me and feels long term. Keep strong buddies. 😉

Grabbed a piece of pizza Monday night, was hungry, convenient, free, smelled good and still had errands to do after the gym. I was still starving an hour later when I made it home. Won't do that again.

I figured out I'm a hoarder. I have size 12 clothes in my back closet that every year I say if I can't fit in them I'll donate them. So far, at least for the last 10 years) I have not donated... have not worn them.. and disgust myself for not getting back into them. This year, I really am going to get rid of the clutter. CHAOS. (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome).. Flylady(dot) net. that's my new and old New Years resolution.
|
Flylady is a good site. Good ideas. I unsuscribed ages ago as I couldn't deal with all the emails and reminders. LOL. Was more clutter on my computer. I'm working on her clean sink thing, I'm really bad at leaving dishes in the sink, like last night. She is a good one for baby steps.

Kim - you aren't helping Dboza here! lol... sheesh. Let her shed them. She can buy herself some new ones when she loses the weight. How about that? Flylady was a good tip. I am going to start listening to her podcasts. I forgot all about her. I am actually listening to Unstuff Your Life right now. How is it that we are all trying to lose WEIGHT and lose (stuff) WEIGHT at the same time? Life is so symbolic, isn't it?

Someone else on here recommended flylady and I have been following her program for a couple weeks, it's great! It's really teaching me that 10 or 15 minutes a day can help keep you home and life in order

Housework = exercise too. And regarding the size 12's, after 10 years they need serious style analysis - they could be mom jeans! 😲 When you're back to a size 12, you'll deserve several new pairs of pants. And if you're worried about the cost, Kim is a thrift store wonder. She can come out of a thrift store having spent under $10 and ALWAYS looks stylin fab. Also, I had to shut the flyladies up after they tormented me with emails, but thanks for the clean sink reminder. Yes, it is a very good place to start. Like I said earlier... mind, body and soul, the weight, the food, the physical and mental clutter is all related to our souls. Peace of mind can transform our bodies or at least how we see ourselves. Keep up the good conversation buddies! 👭

Both my home and guesthouse are so clean! I barely want to touch anything. Were done pretty much with our redo and are just waiting for our living room furniture. Bill is wanting his new couch. We decided to wait until Jan./Feb. to finish the bathrooms, but the worst part, the shower is done and in so we're breathing a wonderful sigh of relief for enjoying the holidays. All of my hoarding insight worked really well for me. If you have enve and inkling of a problem, the book is called, "Stuff" The Dr. is brilliant. Anyway, now I'm just weeding. It feels great.

Way to go, kim. And I must report that I cleaned the sink - probably not quite up to fly lady standards because there was no bleach or scrubbing devices used and I did not go under the strainer, but it did sparkle yesterday. 😉

Thank you everyone for such a fun post comments section. I think we all understand the freedom that we feel when we're able to feel good about something. And isn't our home just another symbol of us, just like our bodies? Fascinating correlation indeed.
