I have SLE Lupus and 7 other autoimmune issues. It’s a real struggle with inflammation. I also am considered incomplete paraplegic due to a horse riding accident at 12. I was a half cm away from complete paralysis. I just got back on. I broke the horse. I’m so blessed! I was in an electric and manual wheelchair for 8 years. When the doctor said,” you will always be in a wheelchair “, I got busy. I’m not the one to be told I’m not in charge of my health. I started pushing myself walking with my walker and doing yoga. I can’t run l, I have poor balance most days, and the doctor said I’d do more harm than good. Well, muscle wasting has turned into muscles! I do a combo of yoga, Pilates, and stretch daily. Once my Louis meds (Benlysta) kicked in, I was using my walker more and more. I was walking ball alone without sid,” all over my home, my yard abs even the stacks my granddaughter goes to. My doctor decided it’s all in my head even with positive tests and took me off my Benlysta. I’m definitely going backward. I know I will always need my wheelchair for distance due to the spinal trauma. It’s okay. I see it as an aide to freedom.
