I surprisingly got out for a little run this morning. We ended up traveling to see my parents for the 4th, so I wasn't sure I'd be able to get out for any exercise. But when the opportunity presented itself this morning, I jumped on it! My daughter was getting a little stir-crazy, so it made even more sense to get out so I put her in the running stroller (now a staple to keep in the car) and off we went. It didn't take much convincing for my son to join us on his bike. We did laps around my parents sub-division. My son even jumped off his bike on the last lap and ran with me a bit. Then I finished up with some circuits in the back yard (even squats while holding my daughter...phew!).
Today we'll hit the local park before heading back home. My husband worked yesterday. It was supposed to be an 8 hour shift (2pm-10pm), but a text this morning revealed he didn't get off duty until 5am! I really hope people appreciate what police officers have to put up with on the 4th of July. Thus, we are not rushing to get home. We'll let him sleep in a quiet house before I bring the crazy kids back home :-) He has the rest of the weekend off, so we'll probably do a family "4th of July" celebrating tonight.
Nice to see so many of you logging miles this holiday. It keeps me inspired/motivated to find a way to sneak it into my days, too.
