And so another weekend got the better of me! Saturday wasn't too bad, we had salmon fillet with roasted med veg & pasta but I think the watercress sauce from a packet may have been a bit too much! I also managed to drink red wine Friday, Saturday AND Sunday! It really is my downfall :(
On Sunday, we ate out. Lunch was welsh rarebit (well, when in Wales!) It was really delicious and probably highly calorific! We were visiting an amazing house in Llangollen and I did walk round some of the gardens. We've made a note to go back and explore more of the gardens when I'm wearing trainers lol (Yesterday I was in heels!)
The house (Plas Newydd) has lots of history, mainly that of 2 young women who met at school in Ireland and ran away together to spend their lives at this wonderful house back in the late 18th century & lived there together for 50 years. Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby captured the imagination of Regency society.
They received a stream of visitors to the unpretentious little cottage which, over the years, they transformed into a Gothic fantasy of projecting stained glass and elaborately carved oak.
We never got to go inside as we didn't have tickets but we've booked to go again!
