is a calorie a calorie? what I mean is; I'm keeping below 1200 calories but I'm still eating bread rice and carbs

I still find I lose no matter what I eat, if I stick to 1200 calories, but refined carbs and sugars can bloat me and cause me to carry water weight. It all depends on the person.

I find that being too strict does more harm than good in my case, causing me to literally obsess over food, and plant-based, vegan or vegetarian people practically live on carbs so its impossible for me to restrict. With a consistent calorie deficit and daily carbs including brown bread, pasta, rice, etc, movement still occurs but slightly slower I guess.

Aimee, look in an Indian spice shop for hing. you add a pinch to your food and it helps with bloating. I'm bloating free and eating cabbage and beans with no gas!

If my calories say i have 1700 allowed. Should I stick to 1200 or the full 1700??

Me Mandy you need a calorie deficit to lose weight. stick to 1200 and you will have that deficit

Hi Mandy my understanding is calorie deficit is the difference between what you ate in total calories vs total calories burned in a day. So Eg if you eat the 1700 calories allocation, the burned part should be around 2200 for the day to be in a deficit of 500. Or maybe I am missing something 🙈 Do you need to eat in 500 deficit of the total allocation???

Nirendree thanks, I kept it at 1200 yesterday and came down 400g so thanks will try keep it at that til I see its not working anymore.

go online and work out how many calories you need in a sedentary (non active) state. mine worked out to 1700. I then decided to drop my calorie intake to 1200. I'm averaging around 1100 now. I'm not inactive so that is going to help more. 5 minutes on an exercise bike burns 44 calories. to try burning 2200 you need to be really exercising for hours a day
