Happy Friday all! Hope your week has gone well so far! The weekends used to scare me. I always follow my diets and exercise routines 100% during the week, but weekends were always my downfall. Friends around going out drinking and having a good time I usually fell into the void and drank as well, which as we all know, leads into late night snacks and hangovers. I'm trying to better myself every day now though, and this is something I'm going to have to face for a while.

Last night I went out to pick up Nike+ from Best Buy(which doesn't work with iPod Classic grr) and met up with some friends who were at Barley and Hops enjoying some beers. I sat down and just had water and still had a great time. Who knew!

The real test will be in a few weeks when I fly up to NYC to visit my buddy for the weekend who is just getting back from Australia. He has always been a big party person and I'll need to try hard to not drink. I have faith in myself though!

Speaking of flights, does anyone have a good suggestion where I can book a flight from Pittsburgh to JFK for a reasonable price? I'll be leaving March 11th and coming back the 13th. Thanks for any suggestions. Have a good day everyone!

I don't know if Southwest flies into JFK, but they probably do into Laguardia or Newalk. Other than that My wife uses Orbits to book our flights and I've used Expedia. I agree with you about the weekends. That is why I choose to have a calorie spike day. on Saturday. That way I can deal with any cravings and don't feel guilty about them. I don't know if your consumption guidelines allow this, but it's a thought. Be good, Buddy.

Good endeavors to have, especially since you quite a list of things to train for! It will pay off when you meet your goals though. Admirable. I too was going to suggest SW but you can also check Hotwire if you don't want to go that route. How is training going thus far? Your distance runs? Have a great weekend!

Training is going okay. Starting to get back into outdoor training now for my runs which is a lot harder on my body. I live in an area with many large hills so I have been trying to get used to the hills before testing a distance run. I haven't really pushed past 7 miles on the treadmill but I know I can probably get up to 10 if I pushed myself. My strength training has been going great though, really starting to notice the hard work paying off. Unfortunately SW doesn't fly to JFK or that would be my choice. I take SW to Philly all the time. LGA is near Long Island correct? I'll have to see how much cab fare would be from there. My buddy lives near Times Square. I'm going to start adding in a spike day during the weekend for food, as long as I stay away from the booze. That's a great idea!

It's in Queens. It's on the same piece of land as Long Island but it is in the heart of the 5 boroughs. I believe that LGA is closer to Manhattan than JFK, but don't quote me. An alternative to a $50 cab ride is the Subway, if you don't have much baggage. It was years ago but I took a cab from my sister's old apt (W. 75th and Columbus) to LGA and it was about $35.

Hills??? Yeah, that would totally curb my distance running. My outdoor runs are pretty flat so I don't know how I'd do with that. My aim is to run/hike a few nearby mountains and see how that feels. I've really grown to like strength training and in the long run that helps burn more cals anyway. Good going!
