So, I was at my Mom's last night for a bit, had dinner. She saw me using the bar code scanner on the app and I explained the site. Was talking about losing weight and what I'm doing, mostly at this point watching what I eat, and my portion sizes (which is honestly my biggest problem).

Now, keep in mind about two years ago my Mom lost about 60-70lbs using a program (I don't remember what it was called). She had to buy their food, and have it shipped, measure and weight all her meats and veggies. It was very structured, and I'm sure very expensive. And it worked for her, which is the point and its fine.

She asked me what my Caloric intake was for the day, and I told her. She looked at me with a snooty look and said, in matching voice, "I'm surprised your losing any weight with that amount of calories. My caloric intake was (600 less than mine)" Keep in mind, she's 2 inches shorter than I am, but now that she lost all that weight she's automatically an expert. And she's a downer. I would have loved to have heard "Great job! Keep it up and you can do this!" Instead I get 'I'm surprised this is working at all'. Well, Gee! Thanks for the support Mom!

Haters gonna hate, I guess.

Wow! Maybe you can have a talk with her about being supportive. Some people just don't realize how negative they are being. If she has always been like that, then you might just have to ignore it and let it go. You can't change the person, just how you react to them. But "go you" for losing and don't let anyone stop you.

I always get "you are looking very thin", in a snooty voice. Mainly from people who want to lose weight themselves. I try to ignore it

Yea, she's always been like that. I have to ignore it, but its still my mom and I want to hear something positive from her. Hense the vent. It is what it is...

You are loosing for you and that's the most important thing for you to remember. Sometimes mother's don't realize that there comments sting as much as though do. I'm sure she didn't mean it the way it came out. But I agree with Suzi161, you should talk to her about being supportive. Go you, though. Continue on your journey and you will be successful. And then, when you've reached your goal, you can can continue to show support for others who are trying to loose. Have a blessed day!

Keep it up and don't let anyone let you feel you arn't doing a good job of it. You are I know. I cook half the meals. LOL
