Yea finally weight is moving again! This was my longest plateau and I wonder if due to emotional turmoil. My eating hasn't been much different but dealing with very upsetting personal matters. Does extreme stress cause us to hold on to weight?

It does me because it stops things from moving and leaving as they should. When my stress settles down, then all is well and the stress weight drops.

Stress produces cortisol, which causes weight gain, particularly in the tummy area. Lack of sleep, which can be stress-related, produces more cortisol. If I'm going through a bout of stress related insomnia, I find that I am ravenous all the time and I want to eat high-fat, starchy, greasy foods.

So true... Zombie is totally right. And other chemical changes in your body, internal signaling hormones including leptin and insulin change how and when they are released when you are under stress. As these signal how fat is used and / or stored in the body, stress naturally has a HUGE effect. Meditation... free and easy to do. It helps tons. Good luck GTM! :D
