I love that February 1 (and therefore March 1st since it isn't a leap year) are falling on Mondays. I love fresh starts- but I don't really need one. Old me would have noticed that and thought- hmmm...it's the 23rd- I'll just binge and restart on the 1st/Monday. New me binges and restarts when I want to. haha. 😆 And in case anyone cares-November 1 will be on a Monday. If I thought long and hard about it- I would hate it. Mondays are time to turn in payroll and the 1st is when all my receipts for expenses are due and just kind of all kinds of little stuff at work-so to combine the two is 😕 but I WON'T think long and hard about it. I will love it. And since I am feeling chatty- My sister is getting married in August and I found a dress I love that I bought for a wedding in 2019 but was too fat for- still weighing 202 at that time but now it is ridiculously flattering- like I am looking in a fun house mirror- sucked in in all the right places and bigger where I need to be. And for anyone STILL reading this boring journal that I know I am using to procrastinate on the housework-my lifts have increased. I did one arm db rows with 55's for 10 reps. (Actually 12 reps on my right- note to self to start with less dominant next time)And shoulders are up, too and triceps and chest... legs feel stronger but I am not interested in putting more plates on the press but I can tell when I am doing extensions and curls. Other good news- This PB2 peanut butter powder is my new favorite thing to eat. Want more good news? I got a raise last week. Tomorrow's journal will be all the things that suck. But today is sunshine and rainbows. 😊💗🤸🏻‍♀️👗💪🏻🥜🧈💲🥰 The pic has nothing to do with the journal. Wandered around walmart last night to get some steps in instead of eating because I already went to the gym and it was too cold outdoors. Not a very exciting social life.

Peeper I’m barely 5’1”. I have no clue about machines. All I have is my equipment, mostly dumbbells at home. So this is 25lb dumbbells I’m referring too, bent over, rowing. Make sense? I’m sure I’d be the weakest among you women here who lift but I’m pushing as heavy as I can. I’ve increased very slowly and have had to step back several times due to tennis elbow and I feel it holds me back, fearing a flare up that once it starts, has taken months to heal every time. But all my recent increases in my baby lifts have been great lately with no issues at all. My physio therapists told me building arm muscle was key to ward off this issue, or control it at least, along with better techniques at work which caused this for me I the first place.

I was lifting pre-covid with a girl? transgender- we were pretty equal pre-covid. We came back afterwards and she/he is blowing me out of the water. Pretty crazy! As far as the weights- I'm excited to lift heavier- but if I could attain the body I want with less weights- I mean- who cares? I just want to look muscular- not trying to make anyone feel like a lesser lifter- just proud of me. And proud of you all, too. 💗😘

DP, that is the best way to do it. I’m competitive, but these days, it’s all about doing better against my own numbers. And it’s so easy now. No notes, no spreadsheets, just apps.

Adding on, if you ever feel compelled to compete, just do it. It’ll light a fire you just can’t get elsewhere. Once i feel really good and have more free time, i might do something like master’s just to see where i fall. Scary thing in a town full of ex pro athletes. I’ll take that piece of humble pie to go, please.

I could never- not with my loose skin anyhow. I hate it. I wish I could see what I would've looked like without it- but oh well. Yes- just trying to better myself.

I like what you said Kat. The only one I compete with is myself too. And comparing me to me last year, I’m definitely stronger. I’m very proud of you DP. You already look muscular but always wanting to be stronger is something I totally get. And admire you for. And honestly, I think all those days you eat more, are a real benefit to feed your awesome muscles!! I should have more days like that maybe. 😉💪🏻

Wifey, you and I do the same on one arm db rows! The older lady o was referring to was on a row machine which is totally different. I just mentioned it because it was super awesome to see her start up and work so darn hard in the beginning! DP you should totally compete when you get more confidence in how your skin is. Skin isn’t my issue but I have others that would make me reconsider competing so I do understand. We have a local garage gym that does competitions within their own gym and other small gyms around the area. I’ve considered working with them and competing in their own gym comp just to see how I stacked up. One problem for me is their picture of female competitors shows all very large women. Either short and stout (with quite a bit of fat too) or tall and broad shouldered. I don’t think I could do half of what they could but was told they make up age and weight divisions based on who is competing so maybe I wouldn’t be put with one of the 6’ tall ladies lol. Pre covid I was doing what some of their male youth were doing which gave me some hope. Now I don’t know if I’ll ever get back where I was or if my shoulder could handle such heavy weights. It would be awesome to compete though. I’d want a totally cut body first though haha.

They need a new category for us ladies with loose skin! It seems to me like that shouldn't matter but what do I know. My hubs watched a video of a 90 year old man doing triple sets of 405lb deadlifts! He was a short stocky guy. Amazing! Doesn't matter how old you are! We also knew a guy who never lifted heavy but he had big muscles, so yeah agree with you DP it doesn't matter really when it comes to how much you lift and what you look like but still WOW! It's fun to become stronger!!! I have only been doing 15lb bentover rows but I squeeze hard and controlled to make it really count!!! I love when I can't go up to the next weight! Katsolo, if you compete you'll have to invite us all to watch!!! That would be so fun!!!

Next time I’m at the gym I’m going to see if they have some 22# dumbbells. If they do I’m going to turn it upside down to look like 55# and use those. 😳 😆 😆

Nope. Passions are swimming and skiing. Too old for the crashes in competitive skiing at this point so I’ll stick to the pool. Weights are a means to an end.

peeper- I don't think I have seen a pic in awhile- but you were pretty dang muscular- plus you can do pullups- and I cannot and don't see how I ever will be able to lift my weight. Bearnoggin- I wouldn't be able to control my eating enough to be in competition. 😁 And Katsolo- I love to swim but it is underwater and leisurely and in a pool where I can see everything around me. No river monsters nibbling on my toes. Those tv shows are crazy.

I haven’t taken one in awhile as I’m getting a nice layer of fat now lol. I tried a pull-up the other day and my shoulder wouldn’t allow it. Doubt I’ll be able to do them anytime soon. You’ll get there! If your gym has an assisted pull up machine where you can take some weight off that really helps! I started by taking half my weight off. Ok honesty here... it was more like 2/3 of my weight off lol. I also have a bar at home with bands. I think I’ll need to start with those again and maybe buy a different band. The one that takes off 100#. My shoulder just doesn’t want to lift any weights in that position so I’ll have to work it out and see if I’ll ever be able to do it again or not. If not I could send you my pull up bar!

I live with Diablo so we have a pull up bar.😉 We do have assisted pull ups and I do those but just as a pre-back stretch /warm up. I guess I should keep trying to get better at that but it's not something I can imagine. Maybe I'll make it as a goal. 💪🏼
