Huge giant step for me tonight. Hubby worked late, which happens. I usually "celebrate" by having popcorn for dinner. For me, "popcorn" consists of at least a stick of butter + Kraft grated Parmesan cheese + garlic salt. Oh yeah, and a little popcorn. I used to wash it down with a Coke.

Butter is now on my "forget it" list because it triggers me to keep eating... butter. However, there are exceptions, like when I cooked my fried egg this morning (but I used about a third of what I've used in the past).

Tonight I made... Brussels sprouts! Hubby hates them, so they were my special treat, LOL! I cut them in half, tossed them with a little bacon fat, and roasted them until the outer leaves were crispy. So good!

What's astonishing is that I now consider sprouts a treat! Who am I???

My calorie count was pretty low after eating, so I walked the dog and "earned" myself a hunk of a baguette with some butter. I measured it out so I wouldn't go slap-happy at the butter dish, and felt satisfied. I think it was good for me to have the bread at the end of the meal when I'd taken the edge off my hunger.

Oh man, a girl after my own heart ♥️ I too love butter. I love all things fat. Cheese included. As a food addict I definitely relate to your post, about being triggered at the butter dish. And I’m so happy you let yourself have bread and butter for dessert 💪🏻 Hellyeah, awesome willpower!! Brussels are a favorite food for me, and I eat them regularly. You’re way fancier than me ~ I just microwave mine. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Congratulations on a balanced day, and you’re very inspirational

I adore fat, especially salted fat (like bacon!) A bacon and cheese sandwich grilled on sourdough is just a little bit of heaven. No more. What helped me move off those foods was recognizing that half the time I wasn't even tasting them: I just ate mechanically in order to cram as much in as possible. Once I recognized and removed my trigger foods, I started getting my taste buds back. I'm re-introducing some of my favorite foods (I have brie in my lunch sack for today), but in a portion that makes sense, not the whole wheel.
