I was going to try to work out last night, since I didn't get up yesterday morning, and again didn't do it. Late yesterday afternoon I found out an old high school friend committed suicide on Sunday. He wasn't a close friend, but was someone with whom I kept in touch every few months. We'd go out for drinks and shoot pool, that kind of thing. He was always so upbeat, and none of us who knew him ever imagined he would do something like that. It's a complete shock, and I haven't really been able to process it yet.
I did get up this morning and work out, finally. I've been telling myself every night that I would get up in the morning and work out, but then would stay up too late. Last night I made a point of going to bed right after the Big Bang Theory ... 10 pm, and woke up before my alarm went off. I am so out of shape! Just one set of 20 walking lunges has me already sore. To think I used to do 3-4 sets of 20 walking lunges with a 70 lb barbell on my shoulders ... my how things have changed. I have a feeling that after a month of regular workouts, I'll start seeing some tone again.

Good Goddess I was in good shape! Need to dig out a picture that shows my abs - I had amazing abs - and keep it by my desk! I'm thinking that once I get back into the habit of getting up in the morning and working out, I may go get a gym membership again. I have a nice treadmill, weight bench, dumbbells up to 25 lbs, EZ bar and plates, and a designated work out room in my house - but man I miss the leg machines and pullies. Plus, there's something about the gym - even if I don't feel like working out, all I need to do is just get there, and usually within a few minutes I'm in the mode.
My son is 16 and said he'd like to go to the gym with me as well. I've never done well working out with a partner, I am truly a loner in that way. My sister is a trainer, and she would help me get him set up with some workouts, then I can keep an eye on his form. If there is one thing I know, it is good form and what kind of movements cause injury. Plus it would be fun to have Luke there, good mom/son time.
